How to make a Reed Diffuser with EOs

10/11/2017

I used to love having reed diffusers around the house but they were quickly eliminated when I began removing chemicals from our home. Sadly, the store bought ones generally contain artificial fragrances and can be the trigger for allergies, migraines, and asthma symptoms.
The Solution?
Make Your Own Reed Diffuser!

What You'll Need:

Glass jar or vase with a narrow neck
Bamboo skewers or natural reed sticks
1/4 cup of light carrier oil (apricot kernel or safflower for example)
15 - 20 drops of your favourite Young Living essential oils
2 Tablespoons of alcohol (this helps the oil travel up the reed) – Vodka works great as it’s odourless
That’s it!!! Just mix it all together, pour in to the vase and pop the sticks in. Let the reeds soak for 5 mins then flip. When you notice the scent fade just flip the reeds!
Easy and so much cheaper than store bought ones. And just think of the possibilities for your creations!

Postpartum Hair Loss

5/23/2017

This recipe found it's way to me at a time when my hair was falling out in a BAD way. So much hair down the drain. I probably even cried once or twice.  I was so caught up in the early stages of first time motherhood that I actually didn't notice it right away...that is, until the photos started to roll in. Wow. It happened fast. Like overnight fast. As we Mamas know, all the extra 'me time' no longer existed.  I need a solution that was easy and to the point (and it smells great so that's a bonus).
As I noted in my Instagram stories, it wasn't the only thing that I used on the road to recovery.  I faithfully take my cod liver oil every day and I know that this has really helped to slow my hair loss. I find that the oils help to produce new growth. I know the difference between the two because I had used both separately at one point.
Side note: I used this spray for about 2 months consistently before I really started to see some results. Essential oils can take their time and affect every person differently.
2nd side note: I love to use this at night as cedarwood and lavender are wonderful for aiding in a full night sleep. Cedarwood actually helps to produce melatonin naturally sooooo...win.

DIRECTIONS
Fill 2 oz glass spray bottle with distilled water
Add 8-10 drops each lavender, cedarwood and rosemary.
Shake well before use.
Apply to roots after shower and/ or before bed.
This DIY is so easy. It took me all of 45 second to pull it together and this bottle lasts me about a month. That is, if I actually get to wash my hair on a regular basis...because toddler.
I'm not going to bore you with 30 pictures of me dropping oils into a bottle.  It's really easy people. Fill it with water and top it up with some oils. Boom. Project complete. I am so not into laborious DIYs. It's not my game.
While the Starter Kit does have Lavender it does not have Cedarwood or Rosemary.  However, at $14.00 and $19.75 respectively, they would be a great add on if you wanted to go that route. Simply buying them individually is always an option too!
